CompanyScore reads official Companies House filings — every balance sheet UK companies must publish by law — and turns them into a plain-English score with the maths shown. No black boxes, no £500 reports: you see exactly which filed numbers produced the score, the same way lenders do. Built on the Altman Z-score family, recalibrated for today's UK register.
That company is exactly the kind of lookup we're building for. We're computing scores across the whole register right now. Leave your email and we'll score it — free, with the full input breakdown — the day we launch.

Every score is derived from Companies House accounts — balance sheets and P&Ls companies file by law. Free public data, no gossip, no paid rumor mills.
We show the exact inputs: working capital, leverage, liquidity, reserves — and the Altman Z-score maths that turned them into your score. If a number looks wrong, you can see why.
Direction beats level. We compute year-over-year trends back to 2008 so you see deterioration before it becomes distress.

Companies House — the UK's official register of companies. Their bulk data products include a monthly snapshot of ~5.5M companies and every electronically filed set of accounts (~1.6M/year, with history back to 2008). All free, all public. We're not affiliated with Companies House.
The transparent core is the Altman Z-score family (the standard academic distress model since 1968), adapted for private companies (Z′) and non-manufacturers (Z″), plus a balance-sheet model for the many small companies that file abbreviated accounts without a P&L. Score bands are recalibrated against actual UK insolvency outcomes — and we publish hit-rates rather than claiming false precision.
~3.0M active UK companies have filed accounts we can read — that's most of the trading register. Companies with no accounts yet (brand-new, or never filed) get a registry-behaviour flag instead of a score. Banks and insurers are excluded: their balance sheets don't fit the model.

No. It's a financial-health indicator computed from public filings — a second opinion you can check the maths on. It is not regulated credit rating, not advice, and not a guarantee.
